Rockstar Games has announced that the online servers for its two most popular games GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 will not work for a couple of hours today. The scheduled hours are from 2:00 to 4:00 PM ET, which represents a very similar time in all Latin American countries.
According to the tweet in which this was announced, the servers will be temporarily closed in honor of George Floyd, the African American killed by a Minnesota police officer on May 25, a tragedy that has led to protests throughout The United States and that continue happening right now while different North American security forces continue to be deployed throughout the territory.
No online game
There are more than a few companies that have canceled their events and announcements due to what is happening in that country, however, it seems that Rockstar is the first to shut down their game servers to draw attention to what is happening. GTA V is one of the best-selling games in history at this point and its online mode is one of the most active in the entire industry so, if someone had not heard of Floyd’s death, now they will.
Black Lives Matter. To honor the legacy of George Floyd, today, 6/4/20, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET, we will be shutting down access to our online games, Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online.

Reactions have been more negative than positive this time with a large number of people responding to the Rockstar tweet to remember that this measure will not prevent racism from continuing, or even some pointing out that not everyone should be affected by internal problems. from a country.
On the other hand, Rockstar accompanied the tweet with another one in which it states that we can donate to different charities related to the Black Lives Matter movement. You can follow the link below for details of who receives the money and how.
